• Client uses a legacy Warehouse Management system, originally a COTS application but now owned and maintained by Client IT. We are in the midst of a long project to replace this application across all our North American factories, but we still need to support and maintain the legacy application for a few more years for some of our largest factories.
• This position is for a combination Developer/Administrator who can help maintain the legacy application during that time.
• This job will entail software modernization, some rewrites, minor enhancements, and support.
• This is a team role; the applicant will be paired up with a senior developer who has worked in this area for many years.
• Responsibilities of this position include support (including off-hours support); patching; infrastructure work (OS upgrades, database upgrades, etc.); business support (including SQL query writing, bulk data loads, etc.); troubleshooting and resolution; minor enhancements; and help with cutover/migration activities during go-lives of the new WM solution.

Technical Skills:

• Assist in migrating Visual Basic 6.0 applications to Visual Studio, research any issues that arise.
• Assist in maintaining Cobol Compile environment for Windows 10 operating system.

• The ideal candidate would be someone who has a background in software development as well as system or software administration. Code fixes and minor enhancements are part of the job, so experience coding in C, VB.Net, and SQL (DB2 and Oracle) are required.
• Experience in application troubleshooting is also required.
• Candidate must know about Windows Services, log files, etc. and be able to work backward from an error message to identify the root cause of an issue. Issues can occur in the source code, data, middleware, SAP/IDocs, and/or Windows.
• The ideal candidate will also have some background in physical logistics, warehouse management, manufacturing, order management, etc.
• Experience with SAP, especially with IDocs, is highly desired but not required.

Education Required:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience, is required. At least two years of experience writing software in C and/or VB.Net and queries in Oracle or DB2 is required.
